Abominable No Man’s Land

A strip idea I’ve been kicking around in my head for a week or two. I was inspired by my best friend Chuck’s strip Goofy Love. Check it out for yourself.

Hopefully more to come. Comic con was a big blow to my ego and I’m just now getting back into the swing of things. Not the best attitude if I want to turn pro I know.

My Horneyness is getting in the way of my Geekyness.

Works been rough all and I wanted to do was go to bed when I got home. Other aspects of my life have led to frustration and anger, which leads to confusion, which leads to escapism. So how does a guy like me escape mentally? Mostly Sci-Fi and hot chicks. I really didn’t want to draw but I must if I ever want to make it. So my heart wasn’t in this one but it did turn out to be very therapeutic. It’s a bit over the top and is in no way supposed to be the girl from the AVP comics. This feels more like Alien VS Sasha Gray though not really pornographic. (I only know who porn star Sasha Gray is because I read about a “real” movie called The Girlfriend Experience…This is a lie.) One thing I did like was the experiment with gray tones .The drawing was done in about 5 minutes (just meant to be a figure drawing warm up) with a regular ball point pen then I made a copy and used a pencil to ad gray with a smudge stick, then colored in photo shop. I really like the textures I got with the armor Next time I do this I’ll plan ahead for things like lighting. It’s one of those drawing that just had to come out. They don’t look great but I usually feel better when there done. Girls have been harder to get down lately. I keep having to adjust facial aspects. Even now looking at the Ramona Flowers drawing below I feel like I was way off. I know I can and must do better.

Ramona Flowers

The day after the first Scott Pilgrim vs. the World trailer came out I went and grabbed the first graphic novel and fell in love with Bryan Lee O’Malley’s over the top world. I have since bought the other four and I’m super excited for the last one coming out on Wednesday. The movie looks almost shot for shot perfect. I think its one of the most original and creative stories to come out in a long time. Here’s a really quick sketch of Ramona, with Scott hiding in her sub-space bag.

Punky Shoe-ster

This was done as a T-shirt design for my soon to be wife Margot and our friends Debbie and Lisa. The girls are gearing up for The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure. They have dubbed their little group the Punk Walkers. Here’s the link if you would like to donate. They have done a great job so far, but can still use all the help they can get. I’m very proud of all the hard work Margot has done for this cause.

A few pages from my new comic!!!

In an effort to get more of my stuff out there, I’ve come to the realization that I can’t really write. I can do little three or four page strips or one offs, but anything beyond a few pages and I’m lost. So I started working with my friend Adam to produce a web comic. I've worked with Adam on a number of video projects he's written and I always admired his drive. Some people talk, some people do. Adam's a do'er. These are the first few pages. The finished product with the lettering will be up soon. Our friend Cory is even doing the color flats for me. This saves more time than you know and I’m happy that he’s kicking ass and taking to it like a fish to water.Plus Adam has enough exciting story with these characters to keep me drawing for years.I will be linking to the main sight as soon as we launch it.

Long time no post. The biggest reason for this has been my decision to go all digital with my art work. This piece is my first completely computer generated work. It was done for my friend Ali on her 30th birthday at the request of her loving husband Jon. As you may have guessed her party was Harry Potter themed. I’m really happy with the way it turned out and that my friend will have a bench mark her life while I have one for my art. More coming soon, I really want to make this a sound board for my stuff.
